1. Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in large saucepan over medium-low heat. Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Stir in tomato paste then tomatoes.  Simmer. Cook until sauce begins to thicken, about 10 minutes.
  2. Cook pasta according to packet directions, undercooking slightly.
  3. Drain pasta then add to simmering sauce.
  4. Cook until sauce has thickened and pasta is al dente. Add basil and remaining 1 tablespoon oil and toss to combine. Serve topped with parmesan.
